This life is fast and Boy I boy just when I think I have caught up I look up to enjoy the view and woopsy I do, I trip on the remains of my procrastination pile. The good news about this is that this particular pile i claim as mine very own is not going anywhere with out me! so as fast as life goes it really knows I am the only way to proceed to put that pretty little pile in its proper place, no matter how turtle like the doing of my work.
And so onward ever onward toward the main goal here, music = love = wildfire
Keep on moving along and spreading the soul of
This song of mine. yes, I must, it keeps me happy.
Celebrating the success all the while.
Earth Song my 2001 original song, was chosen to be included on an earthday compilation put together by a friend and musical talent Mary Danzig. What a great way to celebrate music and earth! I am grateful for the hard work that went into the making of this album! This month i have had oppurtunity to perform at earthday celebrations and promotion concerts along side Mary her husband Peter and the other artist who's songs are featured. It has been most memorable as well as inspiring.
Finally as I have suggested several times in posts and blogs over the years, I am working on my album! Yes, it's true, actually as I have organized and reviewed the recordings, some self produced and others co-produced, I should have released or rather could have released 3 full albums by now. My mentors and managers are telling me, do it now, so ok! In the works for realsy and with my accountability buddies I shall share my craft one album at a time and then next and in between a finally finished web site full of my doings of music and yoga. These are the things I must expose and allow to bloom in order for these roots to grow deeper. I get that, weeds up rooted and a soul song planted long ago growing a little bigger with ever scary thing proposed. Yep scary, I get the nerves when projecting my presence upon stage, I don't know if they will ever go away, friendly little butterfly's I have swallowed ( a belly full ) :) so, now that you are in the loop, and Do my best I do to keep you there, I must recharge my spirit with a sweet little savasana and then get busy.
In gratitude and goodness

september already! Holy cow really. I am so excited for a change in weather, literally and metaphorically. The album I recorded with my little folk band Kinfolk is in motion in an unofficial sort of way. I have decided it must flow. With baby steps of course. I hand made some covers and burned some copies. In one of a kind heart grown quality you see. The songs were studio recorded over 2 years ago. Its time to share and move on.
I have new songs and ideas blooming and with the release of the Kinfolk finally, I can give my solo stuff full attention, i can grow on with the music that sings me!
I am performing here and there around home and am entertaining the idea of booking some out of this town gigs. House concerts and small listening room style shows are most suitable for this gal, so we shall see what the universe has in store, eh! So far Playing festivals and opening sets, keeps me seasoned and in tune for more to come. Keep checking in if you will. This just the begining.

Really, it has been a year since I last took a look here. I have been hopefully refining and reinventing my magic, my music, me. Over the course of this wave i ride i have felt the friction, i have felt the rush, i have felt the gentle hand of heaven, the sturdy earth to ground me, i have felt the seeds grow. I am ever so blessed and humble here. knowing that my experiences have catapulted me to this higher place. The place where only love exists. and for the first time ever i am putting my talents my gifts, me, first. To feel and receive to share and give that love back, for my good, for the greater good. so, yes, you can find me, right in the middle of the heart. and when you do, i would sing for you a song, quite happily.

gig-gles
We had the opportunity to gig last weekend during an open house art show at Sugarhouse coffee. It was most inspiring and we were glad to have been invited. WHile the many faces of people gazed at teh colorful interpretations on the wall, Kinfolk played "naked" and had a ball. Naked meaning, no PA! We performed our music in a subtle background fashion for the artists and patrons and gained the experience e could have only hoped for during the hustle. this gig makes us giggle our way into a few up coming shows, we kinda like playing "naked"... perhaps our next one we shall do just that!!

always in the works
Well Kinfolk successfully completed the first mix out of three for the album. Lending our own ear to hear what the record sounds like in stages is quite the learning experience. I know I have said this before, just when you feel like you've raised the bar, you realize your still in the works, always in the works. Thinking of way s to grow, not just musically but via the canvas of life that has oh so many hues. So, mix two here's to you, reminder number umph-teen that life is always in the works.

crawling the web.
The inter-web is a modern way of bringing global awareness about in all ways. SO, here am i, scratching my head in wonder of why i never created my own website. I have many hosted web-lings, such as facebook, myspace (oh crap what was that password? scratch scratch), blogspot, which All serve the idea fore mentioned, but what if all you had to do to catch up was type a simple url, and there they all are one happy little link after the other... brilliant. Welcome to the cutting edge of technology I say to my geeky self. Get a web site, what have you been waiting for? Or perhaps, I AM right on time.

One down two to go...
The first of three final sessions in the studio took place yesterday. Listening over and over to the songs can take the day out of a day, but what better way to spend a day than preparing to share heart with all whom might be interested. Heart in this case being the music. The heartfelt energy behind every song sung is open to interpretation and I am happy to have the ability to inspire the unknown for all who lend an ear. i am very excited for this release as we move through the final stages. Thank you Skinny Guy (sound & production), for precision detailing and production on sound. Thank you Red Buffalo (percussion), for holding time in perfect rhythm and beat. Thank you Pableo (violin & cello), for free forming melodies with the action of the bow... Thank you Mr. Mandolin (mandolin, cello & bass), for hearing the music take shape, instigating flow & harmonizing through intricate picking & grounding arrangement. Many thanks here, ready to get on, move forward and continue to grow. One down two to go.

For the record...
Almost one year, and finally, the record is nearing duplication status. This being my first studio album I knew not to expect what my eager brain wanted to expect. In late winter 2010 we began the process with drums and scratch tracks which launched us right into early summer. Working about once a week slowly moved to once a month due to day jobs, unforeseen events and such. Instrumentations vocalizations and lots of patience have catapulted us to right now, the final mixing stages.
From my point of view as an artist, I really did not realize how the comparing mind could interfere with completion. The times in which the different instruments were record will never be again, same with the vocals. Once captured on a day like yesterday, can not be be again with the same feel on a day like today. So with this in mind I have teetered between the finders keepers of what it might sound like the day after tomorrow. I like the honesty in every moment yet aim to become more perfect. Honestly honesty is perfection, at least I like to think it that way. Sigh, what an experience. I now know a bit more than i did before this began, only now I am just a wee bit eager to begin again. I guess that is a sure sign of some kind of growth, which is a good thing. As I sprout my limbs become stronger and I feel lighter, and I like it. So the final note, for the record, the record is earth side and near that place where it might find a life in your home! Slow and steady is good I conclude in this blessed life of what ever may be.

writing
Ma & Pa Kinfolk have had the opportunity to get out of our shells and into creation mode. This by way of song school. We almost opted out of the experience but decided it would be good for our spirits. We found our selves at the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon, in Salt Lake, where we were greeted by moose and friendly folk from the school. This song school happens in conjunction with The Mountain Music Festival so there were musical folk in from all over. On the first day of class we were introduced to a fantastic song writer, Steve Seskin. He taught us a bit of everything there is to know about creating the perfect song. I won't go to much into logistics here, as I don't want to give it all away, but I do want to say that I was reminded of a few things. I was reminded, Pa too, that writing songs is a magical therapy that can get any song writer through the toughest of trials. Bringing all emotions to the surface and onto a page and into a tune of healing. It had been a while since we had whole heartedly shared a moment of laughter, and well, the song made it happen. Because of song school, we are empowered and have a new tune to define this journey for now. We are sure to keep and utilize all the tricks we brought home with much gratitude in our songs and hearts. So for now writing is our therapy, and music is our medicine. Keep writing songs, this we will.

Wishes...
So we all know the phrase, be careful what you wish for. Well here I am, guilty as charged yes indeed.
I wished, I wished and I wished... I was blessed.
I haven't been all to open about my personal world, but i find at this time its ok to share.
Afterall, I made one of those wishes right here. I wished for my family to become one with my music in a post some time ago. And as the story goes, in due time, I found and fell in love with an angel. An angel who claimed to have been saved by music. He being just like me. I won that wish. A musical man full of the magic came when I had least expected. In fact I had given up on the idea of love and family in perfect parallel with music. I let it all go. Then he came along, Mr. Mandoline himself. In the begining I didn't know much about him musically. We were friends of mutual friends and there it happened. I recongnized his soul seemed familiar with mine, I let myself begin to slip and fall. He did too. Serendipitously. So we fed each others flight with sillyness, musical moments, and then some. He joined the band, and we practiced, and made sparks fly. Kinfolk Family was complete with our chemistry. Once familiar, we became this partnership. A partnership of love and, life with passion for music. The kind you only dream of or wish for. We found perfection in romance by finding each other. So we spent all moments loving life and each other. So many shennanigans, so little time and oops! In the midst of making music we had made ourselves a wee love child. The wild love that had consumed us had rendered this musical mama pregnant with the first kinfolk family babe. What a blessing, what a change. Family in perfect parallel with music, done and done. Papa and I battled the changes. We grew to accept them and we embraced them. Us, tangible evidence that love is all that is precious. Our unity rendered Papa and I fearless as love fueled each moment. We were one, all three of us. Months flew by. We found out baby to be, is certainly a she, and we picked the perfect name. MandaLynn Fawn Taylor, in honor of proud papas magical moves on Mandolin. This felt just right. We would spend time playing baby MandaLynn music. Songs by us, songs by the legends. We just knew she too would be musical some how. More time flew. We were just round the corner from our home birth when news of sudden change came. Our sweet love child, MandaLynns heart had stopped. She was just 30 weeks grown. Like an angel, she had graced us with love and light and then, gone. We were dreaming, we thought. We would just wake up, awake we were. Here in the eye of perfection, one glitch. Complications 1 in 2500 had changed the tune to our heart song forever. We have been changed forever yet we can say we have been blessed. Wishing and knowing that all things happen for a reason, keeps the madness at bay. So do parallels in love, the greatest of spirits, and the challenges that make us powerful.
I find my music is my family, creation blooms within and life begins all over again. I love my music man more and more each day as we continue to create together. The fuel that is our love is the healing of our hearts and the strength behind the music we play.
I have loved and been loved, I have lost, and I have won. All in all, there is still a song to be sung.
I wished, I wished and I wished... I was blessed.

Solo stuff...
Geetar. Yes I have taught my own self how to make one string instrument harmonize with my soul. I have written many simple songs, and crave to create more.
I have begun the recording process with The Kinfolk Family Band, and holy cow amazing the experience thus far.
I am proud of my list of musical accomplishments, I also know I have many more to make happen.
So this blog of this beautiful day is a reminder to my self that I can keep on making the magic that is music. I know growth is happening every time I play. I know musical knowledge is flooding my brain. I know the music in me is celebrating victory cause I am alive and well and thankful for the ability to play. So thats what I will do. Band stuff, solo stuff, new stuff old stuff, all of it, Quite happily.

Kinfolk Band...
So many choices for this musical momentum. I am getting better and better at efficiently making them. At least I like to think so. Among the decisions, what to call my new band ( learn more in "buck wild" ). This silly project for 2009 deserves a good good name. So my family band as I refer to 'em shall be called....Kinfolk Band...and well we quite like it, do you?

choice & the battle of the self
I have never before in my entire existance known the true meaning of self, until now that is. The reason I say this is, I have relized that the only way to find true self is to be solitary. To experiment with talents and or passions freely to find what works for the individual. I have been soul searching for a while now, contemplating my lifes endless successes and tiring trials and as a whole I know now where it is I want to go and who it is I want to be. That my friends is my self. I am happy here as me, as much as me as I can be. Part of that me is the music I play. I have mentioned before this phenomenon if I may and I have had many choices delivered in persuing this part of myself. And the other side of me, life and family. I deserve both in perfect parellel to happiness. So now I am faced with choice..... Choice, the answer to the brains endless desire to spin its wheels. Choice....I have many choices to make from here, many wheels spinning. I am consistantly performing in this little town a growin' and now I have to decide how to keep up this momentum. I have a full time job, rent to pay and a darlin' daughter to assist into adulthood. Oh yes, I typically forget, there is also me to take care of in the midst of it all. So my decision making process is a bit jar'd at the moment.....how can I divi' out time accordingly to create win win situations all around in every facet of this jem I call life. This is where the self and the universe collide in a sense. Now how do I choose to balance them out? At the moment I am anxious to create many musical moments in Salt Lake, and out side the city too. At this moment I am anxious to create the perfect life situation for me and my family....I long for unity and creation to become of me....Family & Music....could music become part of my family in that I won't have to choose between the two....could they just line up accordingly and entwine together and then wrap themselves around little old me? This is where my thoughts lie today. I am content with myself. Now I get to move forward, no hurry I suppose, no hurry to make that decision....perhaps taking this life day to day is the exact way to pursuade the answer in this brain o' mine....the wheels are turnin' endlessly.

The life of musical sorts.
Ahhhh...music. The ebb & flow of emotion through creative beings for all beings to experience & share. A life staple for this geetar'n song write'n gal. Something I have know was in me since I was just a wee little'n. So here you have found me, blogg'n away about it...cause its just to good to contain. Yep, no foe about it. I urgently must give this goodness away for it has kept me for all to long now. Music, hmmm.
